Selena Gomez was always made fun of

Selena Gomez revealed to Tiger Beat that she has been teased throughout her life: “I’m always made fun of. There was a group of girls who were on the meaner side. It’s a big deal trying to fit in at school and making sure you’re in the in crowd. I always try to say, ‘Be the best you can be.’ I think you learn a lot of lessons. Everybody goes through that.”

When it comes to dealing with bullies, Sel said that it’s important to stick up for yourself: “Everybody has to do that at one point in their life. I always say if you take the high road, you’re much better off. I’ve always taken the higher road and look where I’m at now. So very happy!”

On teasing that she encounters now: “I embrace. My mom taught me to be ‘whatever’ about things. Basically to not take things so personally. If you are confident in yourself and know who your true friends are, you’ll be happy. You can’t think that you’re not as good as anyone else. Be careful of what you do, say and who you hang out with. Represent yourself well.”
